Dolly the Sheep
An old rusting single mattress was dumped down the alleyway next to our Battersea studio. Somebody discarded it, thinking that it's natural life had come to an end. It was a very exciting day, as I hauled it into the studio, my first thoughts were "sheep". It even had the original tufts of cotton caught up in the springs. It was bought from an exhibition I had, by a client who had previously purchased a very large contemporary painting of a ball of wool. They told me that the painting and sculpture would be placed at either end of a large open-plan room. They would then be able to have a artistic dialogue with each other.... I like that!
